Michelle Levy, Division of Blind Services Rehabilitation Supervisor

I wish to wholeheartedly recommend and call to your attention the services of Dulce Muccio Weisenborn of Life Designs, one of our most valued vendors in excellent standing with the agency. With over thirty years of professional experience, we have contracted with Dulce’s company for many years for individual coaching for our clients. We have found that she has an incredible ability to provide very direct, caring, and targeted coaching. She is especially adept at providing counselors with support they can use as they are striving to help their clients who have not yet found their direction or realistic goal. Under Dulce’s watchful eye, I’ve seen emotionally dependent clients find the courage and skill to make the often overwhelming life transition from home to school and from school to work. None of these clients could have visualized these transitions without Dulce’s intervention. In addition, they reported that they enjoyed working with her, and their rehabilitation progress remained strong long after their sessions ended.

Highly intuitive, Dulce is dependable, bright, conscientious, honest, courteous, and generous. Her personal integrity is above reproach. Add to this the fact that she provides clear and prompt verbal and written reports, and it’s evident she is a great asset to our organization. In addition, her years of classroom experience as a college professor with a disability bring an additional perspective to her work with transition students. I’m sure you will enjoy working with her.

A simple phone call or e-mail message is all it takes to get your clients started with Life Designs. Her telephone-based sessions with clients remove all the barriers of time and distance and make clients fully responsible for following through on their own. Please feel free to contact me or Dulce if you have any questions.

Suzanne Brewster, Registered Dietician

Dulce is an amazing mentor, counselor, and a gifted and intuitive life coach . She came into my life when I was going through a transition as a client of the Oregon Commission for the Blind, needing training on how to best adapt from school to employment while dealing with significant sight loss. In a very short time, she was able to succinctly summarize my needs for adaptive equipment and training. She then developed a plan to integrate my education with my newly obtained training from the Commission and helped expedite the coordination of the two.

She has an amazing ability to see right to the heart of a matter, offering reasonable solutions and a gentle but firm way that encourages a client to find their own way and succeed at every step of the process. Dulce is a natural born life coach who is able to draw out the very best in people, direct them toward the resources, and encourage them
along the road to achieving their goals. She is a unique blend of teacher, councilor, cheerleader, and coach. I feel extremely fortunate to have her on my team.

Now many years later, I regard Dulce as a colleague and confidently refer clients
of my own to use her services.

Juan Oyola, Licensed Massage Therapist

Having been a recent client of Dulce Muccio Weisenborn’s, I found her to be a caring yet professional individual. When I needed correction in some employment and personal areas, she helped me see the mistakes I was making and showed me more appropriate ways of dealing with them. She always did this in a way that made me feel comfortable with her suggestions.

Throughout our sessions, there was a sense of professionalism and respect that I will never forget. In addition, she always found time to show the she cared. Dulce took the time to help me see that not all jobs (or life situations) were the right fit for me, and that it was alright to be choosy. She taught me to take the time to care about my needs so that they could be met and not to rush through my job search. This was especially true in my case since I have a disability. Thanks to Dulce, I now realize the importance of this.

I can never express how grateful I am for her help. I shall miss her greatly. If anyone should be lucky enough to receive counseling from her, I am sure that the experience will be worth it, especially if the individual is willing to do his or her part in this incredible journey of self discovery and self worth. I felt as though she took me from being a diamond in the rough and helped me transform myself into a jewel that any person or employer would be proud to meet.

Carolyn Briggs Bryant, M.S.Ed.

As a rehabilitation counselor at the Oregon Commission for the Blind, I wish to recommend Ms. Dulce Muccio Weisenborn whom I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with for six years. Drawing from over thirty years of personal and professional experience, Dulce continues to remain a valued contractor to our agency, providing individual coaching to our diverse blind adult population. Dulce also acts as a peer mentor both to groups and couples, having facilitated several highly successful adjustment to blindness seminars. Her success in these seminars was acclaimed by both staff and clients alike.

Highly versatile, Dulce has been able to work with a diverse range of clients in varying stages of adjustment. She prepares and supports them as they transition from home to a Center-based rehabilitation model, from unemployment to work, from school to work, and through post-employment assistance if needed. Dulce meticulously helps clients become organized, tests their adaptive skills, and introduces them to the technology that is best suited to their needs and skills.

Our agency has also enjoyed Dulce’s facilitation and leadership at workshops directed to vocational rehabilitation counselors, their support staff, and management. Her team-building skills are strong, and her presentations were insightful, informative, and concise. Additionally, I attended a seminar Dulce presented at Portland State University to a variety of rehabilitation professionals from the region where she displayed these same skills.

As her peer, I have found Ms Weisenborn’s performance to exceed my expectations. I have contracted with Dulce’s company Life Designs for individual coaching for my clients and found that she has an incredible ability to provide very direct, caring, and targeted coaching. She is especially adept at providing counselors with support they can use as they are striving to help clients who have not yet found their direction or realistic goal. Under Dulce’s watchful eye, I’ve seen my medically fragile, emotionally dependent clients enter our rehabilitation center, complete their degrees, obtain unsubsidized employment, become consultants, and travel independently to summer volunteer jobs. None of these clients could have visualized these possibilities without Dulce’s intervention. In addition, they reported that they enjoyed working with her, and their rehabilitation progress remained strong long after their sessions ended.

Now an itinerant field instructor, I continue to recommend Dulce to our vocational rehabilitation counselors. She is dependable, bright, conscientious, honest, courteous, and generous. Her personal integrity and honesty are par excellence. Add to this the fact that Dulce provides clear and prompt verbal and written reports, and it’s evident she is a great asset to our organization. If I were still in a position to or have the opportunity to contract directly with Ms Weisenborn, I would do so wholeheartedly as she remains a contractor in good standing with this agency.

Deborah M. Tyson, District Supervisor, Vocational Rehabilitation, State of Florida

You are in the enviable position of having Dulce Muccio Weisenborn move into your Neighborhood (Portland, Oregon). You will find her a talented professional and a willing learner.

I have had the pleasure of knowing her both personally and professionally over the last 20 years. She is talented, honest and dedicated and has excelled, professionally, as a teacher at Miami-Dade Community College and a vocational/personal adjustment trainer and vendor to Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services.

Nancy Allen, Senior Counselor, Vocational Rehabilitation, State of Florida

I have had the good fortune to have known Dulce Muccio Weisenborn for approximately 25 years in a professional capacity through my various positions as a social services counselor. She has been instrumental in working with various clients of mine throughout the years, providing them with career and vocational guidance and counseling, as well as life planning. Her abilities are numerous and she is a multi-faceted individual. She is well organized, has much integrity, functions well as a team member, acts in a most professional manner, has wonderful insight and relates well with people. My clients have benefited greatly from her dynamic counseling and guidance services which have enabled them to move ahead in their vocational and rehabilitation programs.”

Josett Peat, Chairperson, English Department, MDCC North Campus

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Dulce Muccio Weisenborn whom I have known since the Spring of 1996 when she returned to work as an adjunct instructor in the English department at Miami-Dade Community College, North Campus.
From the outset, Ms. Weisenborn has conveyed a sense of confidence, maturity and professionalism. Always organized and well-prepared, she sets high standards for her students who describe her as demanding but fair. In the lesson I observed, students were applying the guidelines she has taught about classification as they worked on group essays. As she worked with them, her manner was firm but supportive, and students worked with each other and the teacher in a very comfortable classroom atmosphere.
I have found Ms. Weisenborn to be one of our most reliable and dependable adjuncts. Without a doubt, she will be a most valuable asset to any institution that employs her.”

Judy Koenig, Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant, State Florida

This letter of recommendation is to introduce you to Ms. Dulce Muccio Weisenborn, with whom I’ve had a professional relationship since 1982. Her organization, Life Designs Inc., has been one of our agency’s approved vendors, providing Vocational Rehabilitation clients with personal adjustment counseling (other psychological services, code A29500). Through the years, I have relied on Ms. Weisenborn’s personal and professional experience for honest, caring, and meticulous service. She is skilled at making clients feel comfortable and worthwhile, while expecting them to remain motivated and productive. She is able to assist them with acknowledging and accepting their limitations and finding reasonable accommodations so they can achieve vocational success. In short, she can break through faulty illusions, helping clients develop/define/pursue realistic vocational and life choices. She does this in a warm, supportive, and friendly manner, facilitating clients own discoveries regarding their vocational potential. Whenever helpful, she shares her own rehabilitation experiences to help model appropriate behaviors and attitudes.
Ms Weisenborn has a breadth of knowledge, working effectively with a wide variety of disabilities. Whether impaired physically, perceptually, intellectually, emotionally, or with history of substance abuse, she can both challenge and inspire her clients toward a favorable employment outcome. She is especially adept in exposing clients noncompliant actions, thus making it easier for Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors to develop and monitor case plan services.
Ms. Weisenborn’s services are a good complement (or even substitution) for prolonged psychotherapy. Clients who are either resistant to or inappropriate for psychotherapy are often helped by life work planning. I strongly recommend Ms. Weisenborn’s work for your agency as she is pleasure to with and is invaluable helping persons with disabilities return to the job market.
